Back in the whale saddle — or, on reading Moby-Dick in January. :-)

I have read the first several chapters of this book and adore it, but I ran out of time to finish it before the close of 2011. Happily, Connie & Ingrid from The Blue Bookcase will be reading it throughout January!

There will be four discussions. I have no idea if I can post for each, but if I read 20 pages a day throughout January, I’ll keep up. So, I plan to.

Here’s the reading schedule:

Jan 12: Chapters 1-28
Jan 19: Chapters 29-55
Jan 26: Chapters 56-93
Feb 2: Chapter 94-epilogue

I love this novel, as I keep saying. Can’t wait to make it a priority. :-)

The reading starts January 5, and readers meet every Thursday in January to discuss.

Moby!

YAYYY! I can’t wait for all your insightful thoughts on this book! I’m extremely excited to read it, and I’m so glad you want to join us! Also … is that snow falling down the side of your blog? Haha. I like it.

Oh man, I’m going to have to think about this. I’ve been wondering if 2012 would be the perfect year for the whale, but I hadn’t decided. This might just be the excuse I needed!

  3. This is such a good one…if it wasn’t for the pile of Shakespeare I am going to conquer, I would totally join in again. ;)

But I look forward to seeing what you guys make of it!

Ah, I’d love to join this one too, but I’m afraid I already reached my reading limit for January. I can’t wait to hear what you think of the rest of it though :)

AH! I so want to join in. Moby Dick is my April book club read. But with Shakespeare and Dickens in January, I probably won’t get it picked up next month. Ah well, do enjoy :)

  6. [...] I saw this one while browsing Jillian’s blog at A Room of One’s Own and despite the number of books I have to read by January, I still want to read this one as it has been collecting dust on my shelf for a very long time.  :) [...]

  7. [...] it. Finally, I just decided that Moby Dick will be one of the first books I read in 2012. Someone (Jillian, perhaps?) pointed me toward the Conquering Moby Dick Readalong by The Blue Bookshelf and I’m [...]
